Pumpkin is one of those love/hate foods that everyone has an opinion about – I’ve never met someone “neutral” to the flavor of fall’s most iconic squash (that sentence sounds so bizarre when I say it out loud, but it’s true!). That being said, I used to be a certified pumpkin-hater. Pumpkin pie made me gag, and I thought adding pumpkin to anything naturally delicious (brownies, cookies, etc.) was the equivalent of contamination.
Then came the most perfect slice of pumpkin pie I’ve ever tasted. Baked by my friend’s grandmother, fresh out of the oven, served with a garnish of warm vanilla bean ice cream, it melted in my mouth and made me give the gourd another go. I’m officially converted to the orange stuff, and I’m now on the hunt for pumpkin-infused recipes.
