Sundays are for…Girls-Inspired Fashion!

Sunday has long been our favorite night for TV. Between the fairy tale drama Once Upon A Time, True Blood, and Mad Men sunday is just a very special night of the week. But now there is a new kid on the block, who might be cooler and more realistic than the rest. That newbie is Girls, the controversial yet undoubtedly brilliant new show that focuses on 4 girls in their young twenties, making mistakes and learning to live on their own. Even if you are not in that particular situation, you can relate to the struggles and confusions of being a young girl. Yet, another thing that comes with being a young girl is FASHION. Much like Sex and the City, each girl on Girls has her own look, and here we are to break it down for you, Lace Affair style.

Wordless Wednesday: Snow White Movie Fashion

While previous years might have favored vampires or werewolves, we can undoubtedly declare 2012 the year of Snow White. There are not one, but two movies out this year representing the fair maiden and her Evil Stepmother, not to mention the amazing fairytale TV show Once Upon A Time on ABC. These, combined with the beloved original Disney-animated version, give us plenty of Snow to love this year. While the story is classic, a moral tale about good triumphing over evil and inner beauty rising above what is on the outside, there is much more to it than that. Namely, the fashion. With so much inspiration to choose from, here is our guide to recreating Snow White fashion, and perhaps even finding Prince Charming!

The Fairest of Them All

First let’s start off with the beauty. Snow White was known for her skin as white as snow, hair black as night, and lips like a red rose. You can easily recreate this look by balancing clean, neutral face makeup with simple red lips and dramatic eyes. Don’t forget to ask your mirror how you look.

Colorblock Like a Queen

Even before it was on-trend, Snow was rocking primary colors. Pair a midnight blue evening dress with red and yellow accessories and you are on your way to becoming Queen!

 Juicy & Delicious

What is the fun of looking the part without a celebratory feast? Invite over 7 of your shortest — I mean, dearest — friends, and feast on candy apples, trifle, and red velvet cupcakes. Just be careful not to invite any little old ladies…

Mirror, Mirror

Perhaps your fashion choices are a bit, ahem, darker. We won’t judge. To recreate this version of the Evil Queen’s wardrobe, load up on sequins, spikes, and metallic makeup. Bonus points for sharp nails and a wickedly-chic updo.

Someday You’re Prince Will Come

Perhaps the best day of all to act like a fairy princess would be your wedding day. Luckily, there are many elegant, flowered, and white as snow dresses to fulfill your wish before you ride out into the sunset towards your castle, or at least your honeymoon!

What is your favorite Snow White look?

Winter Inspiration: Holiday Movies

One of the best things about December is the constant rotation of Holiday Movies. They can make you laugh, cry, and above all, inspire the way you dress. Some of the classics that come to mind are Love Actually, The Nightmare Before Christmas, A Christmas Story, Home Alone, and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. While you might not exactly want to dress like Santa or Jack Skellington, there are some great ways for these films to infuse your holiday style!

Step #1: Cozy Sweaters (& Sweaterdresses)—The one thing these movies all have in common in that fuzzy feeling, which you can also get from cashmere and wool.

Step #2: Wintry Accessories—No look, whether cinematic or not, is complete without a warm and stylish scarf.

Step #3: Stick to the Color Scheme—No matter if you wear a dress, a skirt, or an ugly Christmas sweater, red is the color of the season!
